Recovery from Herniated Disc

Jayne Tesseyman Case Study

Jayne initially started working with Neil due to chronic back pain.
Jayne was a keen runner and had taken part in ultra marathons.
Following a trauma Jayne was unable to bend, experiencing numbness, weakness and pain in one leg at a time and into both. Walking was extremely painful as was sitting. We referred Jayne for further investigation. Following an MRI it was determined she did not require any urgent intervention. However due to the severity of her symptoms she was being considered for surgical interventions.

Jayne regularly attended physiotherapy with Neil while taking pain relief medication. Her treatment initially focused on back mobility and returning to normal movement. The final stage was to progress onto strength work. Before she was due to see her surgeon she had made significant improvements and she decided to focus on conservative treatment.

Following a combination of physio and Jayne’s hard work she was able to regain full pain free movement. Initially Jayne had concerns she would would not be able to return to normal activities. Autumn 2022 Jayne completed a 5 day trek to Annapurna Basecamp which is at the altitude of 4130m

From Jayne

“We reached basecamp on day five and traversed the scariest suspension bridges on day 7 on the way back. It was an amazing experience and one only made possible with your treatment and advice.”
